Woodward Back-to-School Drive
Help supply students with the back-to-school necessities for the new year!
My Kidz, a local nonprofit, in partnership with Project Connect, will host its 5th annual school supply drive for students experiencing homelessness on Saturday, August 6.
What started as a toy drive, collecting around 300 donations for homeless children, has blossomed into a full campaign that saw more than 7,000 donations last year.
“We started off thinking we were doing really good by raising 300 toys, but when we were told that there are more than 3,000 students in Cincinnati experiencing homelessness, we knew we could do more. We knew we had to do more,” said My Kidz President, Dr. Carolyn Cousins-Bates.
Dr. Bates hopes to receive 10,000 donations this year and asks the community to come join her.
“I think that a lot of people don’t hear or see enough about our homeless students in Cincinnati, so it’s amazing to see the community come out and support this cause,” said Dr. Bates.
Collected items include backpacks, erasers, notebooks, paper, crayons, markers, pens, calculators, rulers, scissors, pencils, tape, books, folders, binders, highlighters, and other school supplies.
Donations will be collected from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6th, at Woodward Career Technical High School on Reading Road.
