SCPA Pianist to be Featured in Scholarship Benefit Concert
MorganOlivia Reynolds found her voice at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, not through singing, but by playing the piano.
Reynolds fell in love with the ivory keys when she was 5 years old. Now 12 years old, the seventh-grader has an opportunity to grow her talent even further through the Benjamin Carlson-Berne’s Scholarship Foundation.
The Foundation provides scholarships for classical music lessons, taking the financial burden off families.
Susan Carlson-Berne founded the scholarship in honor of her son, Benjamin Carlson-Berne, who died in a hiking accident. Ben was passionate about music and taught underserved children classical music while he was in high school.
The scholarship covers fees for participating students including lessons, books, and a student’s music study through age 18.
Emanuel Ax, world-renowned classical pianist, will perform an exclusive solo to benefit the Ben Carlson-Berne Scholarship at SCPA March 24, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. In addition to his performance, Reynolds will make an appearance to showcase her talents onstage.
