CPS Marketing and Communications: Racking Up Awards Like A+ Students!

Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS)' Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) brought home the gold — actually glass — with not just one, but four prestigious National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Golden Achievement Awards and Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards.

CPS was the only district in Ohio to receive two NSPRA Golden Achievement Awards. The first award was presented in recognition of the innovative Be Present! initiative, CPS Moves. The ongoing campaign encourages health and wellness for students and staff through monthly programming that includes helpful tips, engaging challenges and practical, safe exercises. Themes vary each month to encourage students and staff to move their bodies and grow their minds.

The second Golden Achievement Award was bestowed upon the Office of Marketing and Communications for their outstanding work on the CPS Black History campaign. This campaign was a powerful celebration of diversity and inclusivity, spotlighting the rich contributions of African Americans throughout history and within the local Cincinnati community. Encompassing stories, a video series starring Black Voices of Cincinnati and recommendations to continue immersing yourself in Black culture and history through age-appropriate movies, books and TV shows. The campaign was applauded for its continual connection to the community and evergreen messaging.

NSPRA AwardsAdding to their accolades, the department also received two NSPRA Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards. The first was the coveted Award of Excellence for E-Newsletter (External Audience) for the creation and engagement of Alphabet Soup. The monthly newsletter — which you can sign up for at any time —serves as a bridge between CPS schools, district offices and community, providing regular updates on district news, achievements and events

The second Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award was an Honorable Mention Award of Excellence for a Video Produced with an Outside Contractor for Parker's Playground. This heartwarming and hilarious video series shines the spotlight on students, sharing their unfiltered and honest answers to a range of subjects.

The NSPRA Awards are a well-deserved recognition of the relentless dedication and creativity of all of CPS' staff. These awards also serve as a testament to the amazing things happening in the classroom, allowing the district to share positive stories that inspire and uplift the entire community.
