SCPA Celebrates 50 Years with Sold-Out Gala
The School for Creative and Performing Arts celebrated its 50th anniversary with the “Future of the Arts Gala” – a sold-out dinner and performance featuring 150 SCPA students performing alongside some of Cincinnati’s finest artists.
Professional artists mentored students while rehearsing for the special celebration.
Students joined several local arts organizations on stage, including the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati May Festival, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestra, and the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati.
SCPA also recognized two outstanding alumni, Alton Fitzgerald White, class of 1982, and William Menefield, class of 1988. White sang a selection from Disney’s “The Lion King” and the Cincinnati Opera performed a selection from Menefield’s original work, “Fierce.”
The third annual gala was held Friday, January 20, at Cincinnati’s Music Hall.
All proceeds from this year’s “Future of the Arts Gala” will provide essential support for students as they prepare for futures as leaders and artists.
