Cincinnati Public Schools Announces Purchase of Building to Open New School
Cincinnati, Ohio (June 23, 2023) – Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is pleased to announce the purchase of the former Bramble Elementary School building and property located at 4324 Homer Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45227. CPS acquired the former Bramble Elementary School building and property based on the growing community in Madisonville and a need for additional early childhood education locations to serve families. Interested families may begin the early registration process Monday, July 10, 2023, as this school is in process to open fall 2023 to serve pre-K students.
“This expansion marks a significant milestone for our district and the Madisonville community. During a time when many school districts are faced with less funding support from the state, our school board is finding ways to meet the needs of our families to ensure that every student has access to a high-quality education,” said Cincinnati Public Schools Superintendent and CEO Iranetta Rayborn Wright.
The decision to acquire this new facility was made after careful consideration of the district's long-term strategic goals and increasing student enrollment in the area. The building's location within the community ensures convenient access for students and their families. No additional grade bands will open this year, but additional considerations to expand will be based on community needs, feedback and review of impacts to other CPS schools.
Wright added, “Many community and staff members, living and working in Madisonville, have expressed a common theme of making sure neighborhood access is always considered during current and future plans. I am confident this new direction will only strengthen our efforts to establish a center for early childhood innovation and build programming and continuity for nearby schools such as John P. Parker School and Shroder High School.”
For existing nearby schools, there are no plans to adjust programming and grade bands for the 2023-2024 school year. CPS will work to prepare classrooms, hire staff, register pre-K students and open for the new school year. During this process, CPS will host its first community engagement session Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. at the new school location. During the community engagement session, CPS will receive input from local community council members and families, and share progress updates. Current engagement sessions are scheduled for July 19 and Aug. 3, 2023, both at 4:30 p.m. Additional sessions will be scheduled for September.
