Mt. Airy Elementary Athletes Get to ‘Be Greater With’ New Flag Football Uniforms

On a perfect fall afternoon, with crisp air and a warm sun, Mt. Airy students took formation across the line from their teachers in a students versus staff flag football game. The game, a competition in celebration of new uniforms provided by Be Greater With, brought excitement and comradery to all students.

Be Greater With (BGW), a new nonprofit organization in Cincinnati, has teamed up with CPS to provide uniforms to elementary athletes across the district to help instill confidence with new uniforms and equipment.

As a result of this partnership, BGW was able to secure a $5500 check from CityWide, a nationwide facility solutions company. This generous donation assisted in the purchase of new flag football uniforms for the CPS Elementary Flag Football Program! The current program consists of student-athletes in grades four through six.

“We are thrilled to have a partnership with ‘Be Greater With’ as they assist greatly in identifying community partners who can make a positive impact for our CPS elementary schools and students,” says Brent Langhorne, CPS Elementary Athletics Coordinator. “From day 1 of the partnership they have been instrumental and dedicated in finding ways to provide support for our programming to impact elementary students in after-school athletics. We look forward to a continued partnership to make a positive impact for CPS students through athletics.”

“We are certainly excited for this event and to be a partner with Cincinnati Public Schools," said Shanan Barga, Be Greater With President. "Not only is the generous donation from CityWide allowing student-athletes the opportunity to showcase their new uniforms, but it also provides students with an opportunity to showcase their skills and dedication to a sport they have been practicing and learning.”

And show off their skills, they did! As the play clock started, the Mt. Airy flag-football team rushed down the field to cheers and chants from their classmates in the audience, scoring their first touchdown in only two drives! The teams’ confidence surely shined bright in their new uniforms!
