Midway Scores Big with Flag Football Thanks to Be Greater With Partnership
Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) and Be Greater With (BGW) kicked off an extraordinary flag football match between staff and students that went beyond the thrill of touchdowns and field goals.
This initiative comes as part of BGW's mission to instill confidence in young student-athletes and empower them to overcome challenges on and off the field. The non-profit organization has a proven track record of creating opportunities for youth to thrive, develop life skills and enhance their self-esteem.
The event was a platform for students and staff to interact outside of the classroom, fostering stronger relationships and promoting positive role models.
“It's beyond the classroom. They're all cheering for their community having fun and it's all evolved around sports,” said Paul Rudolph, BGW Board Member. “The whole school gets to unite and have a good day and the students get to be in a different setting with their teachers cheering them on from the sidelines.”
BGW provides Midway School, and other CPS schools, with sports uniforms which were on display during the thrilling game.
“It's been it's been a huge help to have a partner in the community donating jerseys,” said Midway Resource Coordinator Malik Jackson. “The uniforms look clean and giving our kids the opportunity to do something outside of the classroom is just phenomenal.”
While the kids are used to getting out and about during the school day, Jackson said it was the teachers who benefited the most from the friendly game of flag football.
CPS’ young student-athletes will undoubtedly benefit from this collaborative effort to inspire confidence, resilience and leadership skills as they continue to grow both on and off the field.
