Hyde Park School Strikes Gold at Brain Bowl

An incredible team of CPS students are changing the meaning of March Madness through an elementary version of a competitive academic quiz team.

Cincinnati Public Schools Athletics hosted eight elementary schools at the Education Center for the 2024 CPS Elementary Brain Bowl Tournament Saturday, March 16th.

This tournament was the culmination of the Brain Bowl after-school program since the first week of January. Each participating school team consisted of students in grades four through six and competed against one another as they were quizzed on various topics.

Covedale School, Dater Montessori School, Fairview-Clifton German Language School, Hyde Park School, Kilgour School, Pleasant Ridge Montessori School, Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students and Clifton Area Neighborhood School participated this season and competed at the end-of-season Brain Bowl Tournament.

Pleasant Ridge Montessori achieved a historic first with an impressive 6-2 record, marking their best regular season yet. While they fell short on tournament day, their exceptional performance throughout the season showcased their skill and determination.

Hyde Park School, showcasing a 7-1 regular season record, emerged as the top victors and carried their success into the tournament. They secured victory and were crowned the 2024 Brain Bowl Champion. Let’s celebrate our student-athletes' academic sportsmanship!
