A citywide magnet school offering immersion and partial-immersion language curriculum aimed at fluency in Spanish; also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. Immersion is a research-based method of teaching students to understand, speak, read and write in a new language. AMIS teachers teach Spanish, and they also teach in Spanish, with students learning math, science and social studies in Spanish, so they learn more than conversational Spanish.
A citywide magnet program and Community Learning Center offering classes in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and English as a Second Language (ESL), to prepare students for a globally linked society through excellence in world languages, cultural studies and high academic standards. AWL's staff and students represent over 50 nationalities and languages. Ensuring that each student's needs are met is key to AWL's successful academic program. This school is for our most academically promising children in grades 3 through 11. Students in grades 3 through 6 apply through the Magnet Lottery. Students in grades 7 through 11 apply through the High School Lottery. Students blossom in this flexible, yet rigorous, environment and are prepared for academic success. It also offers students a highly personalized learning experience with opportunities to travel abroad.

A Community Learning Center offering intensive preparation and guidance for academic success in college, with college-credit courses and community service, plus rigorous High School of Business career-technical program; plus, school-based health and dental clinics. Withrow's staff will empower students to graduate in four years and successfully pursue college, the armed forces, or employment training to become productive citizens in a global society. In a structured yet caring environment, students receive personal attention, a custom-designed academic plan, college application assistance, help applying for financial aid, and much more.
