Cincinnati Public Schools
Canvas
Canvas (https://cps-k12.instructure.com/) is Cincinnati Public Schools' learning management system (LMS). Teachers use Canvas to post course materials, assignments and announcements, creating a centralized hub for all class activities. Students access Canvas to submit assignments, participate in discussions and activities and stay informed about their coursework. Please note that ALL teachers will use Focus for grade management; however, not all teachers will use Canvas for class materials and assignments.
Parents can use Canvas to stay engaged in their child's education. By logging in, parents, called Observers in Canvas, can view upcoming assignments, check due dates and monitor their child's progress throughout the school year. Canvas also provides a way for parents to communicate with teachers and receive updates on classroom activities.
Parents can use any computer, smart phone or mobile device with an internet connection to access Canvas. A dedicated Canvas app is also available for iOS and Android devices, making it easy to stay connected on the go. Computers are available in each CPS school building and at the Customer Care Center (CPS Education Center, 2651 Burnet Avenue, 45219) if assistance is needed.Canvas is designed to complement Focus. While Focus is the official grade book, Canvas provides additional insights into daily class activities and assignments, helping parents comprehensively understand their child's education.
Materials will be provided to show parents/guardians how to log in to Canvas and how best to support the child(ren) through this application.
