Summer School

Summer School 2026 Overview

Registration will begin on April 6, 2026 and close April 22, 2026. Registration will be managed by each school and will be based on needs for CPS students in grades 3 and 9-12.

  • Grade 3 students only attend if needed to meet the Third Grade Reading Guarantee 
  • Grades 9-12 students earn up to four 1/2 unit credits that equal two credits based on what is needed

Summer School will take place June 2 - 26, 2026. CPS will close June 19, 2026 in observance of Juneteenth.

Notification:

Families and students will be notified of eligibility status based on current needs.

  • If a student in Grades 9-12 passes a course and earns credit at the end of the school year, they will no longer need to take that credit in Summer School.
  • If a student in Grade 3 meets the promotable score for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee by the end of the school year, they will no longer need to attend Summer School.

Elementary 7:30 Host Schools: 3rd Grade - Frederick Douglass, Mt. Washington, Rockdale, Rothenberg, Covedale, Dater Montessori, College Hill, Sayler Park

  • Eligibility: Students will only attend if they need to meet the Third Grade Reading Guarantee
  • Schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Enrichment: No enrichment will be offered.
  • *Reach out to your home school to register in the appropriate host school

Elementary 9:00 Host Schools: 3rd Grade - Roselawn, Parker Woods, LEAP, Fairview-Clifton, Woodford

  • Eligibility: Students will only attend if they need to meet the Third Grade Reading Guarantee
  • Schedule: 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Enrichment: No enrichment will be offered.
  • *Reach out to your home school to register in the appropriate host school

Secondary: Grades 9 - 12

  • Eligibility: Students attend for up to four 1/2 unit credits that equal two credits
  • Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • School Sites: Aiken, Clark, Dater HS, Gamble HS, GDA, Hughes, Oyler, Riverview, Shroder, Taft HS, Virtual, Western Hills, Withrow, Woodward
