Staff FAQs

Summer School will take place June 2 - 27, 2025. Staff will report to buildings Friday, May 30 through Thursday, June 27, 2025. CPS will close June 19, 2025 in observance of Juneteenth. Teaching staff will be required to attend up to four hours of PD according to their position. See Launch Ed on the PD one pager for more information. 

In order to ensure Summer School is staffed to best support all students, schools need teachers with experience in:

• Grade 3
• Grades 7-12

All teaching positions require certification/license. Paraprofessionals, lunchroom managers, counselors for grades 9-12, social workers, security assistants and nurses are also needed. Ratios are based on student enrollment. 

The district will also staff ESY classrooms and may have additional summer opportunities. 

Staff will be paid a summer rate based on hours worked.

Elementary: Grade 3

AMIS, AWL, CANs, Chase, Hays-Porter, JP Parker, Midway, Mt. Airy, North Avondale, Oyler, Rees E. Price, Roll Hill, Roselawn, Sands, Sayler Park, SCPA, Silverton, Westwood

High School: 9-12 School Sites

Each high school will host its own Summer School

Yes. Any currently employed teacher at CPS that meets the grade/course criteria can apply to work Summer School. See job postings on Unified Talent from April 9 - April 16. 

Interested employees can see job postings on Unified Talent and apply from April 9 - April 16. 

Teachers and support staff will report to the on-site principal. This may be the host-site principal, or the principal of a school at the site.
