Job Readiness for Grades 11 & 12
CPS' Job Readiness Program is an opportunity for students in grades 11- 12 to gain hands-on employment experience to prepare them for life after graduation.
The program, currently available to students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) at Aiken, Woodward, Withrow and West High goes beyond classroom academics to ensure students gain experience at several work sites. The program also equips students with life skills including finances, soft skills, navigating transportation and self advocacy. Students also work closely with job coaches throughout the duration of the program.
Students in the program spend half of their day at their high school and half of their day with a local employer. Students spend around 10 weeks at each job site and work at three sites each school year in a variety of industries from area hospitals to restaurants, industrial sites and retail companies.
