Hospitality and Tourism
The Culinary and Food Services Program at Dater High School is a fast-paced, hands-on experience that prepares students for post-secondary culinary arts and beyond. Students learn basic and advanced skills, including safety and sanitation, knife skills and basic cooking methods, all while covering a variety of food products; stocks, sauces and soups; baking and pastries; and ethnic cuisines.
This program is ideal for students who:
- Enjoy cooking
- Enjoy dining in restaurants
- Would like to work in a hotel, on a cruise ship or in a restaurant
Careers available in the Culinary pathway include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Banquet Setup Employee
- Caterer
- Catering and Banquet Manager
- Executive Chef
- Food and Beverage Manager
- Line Cook
- Pastry and Specialty Chef
- Personal Chef
- Restaurant Manager
- Restaurant Owner
- Sous Chef
- Nutrition Specialist
Salary: $22,000–$60,000
