Interested in health? You have a world of options to choose from, ranging from caring for patients to conducting research in a laboratory. Our Health Science programs are ideal for students who:

  • Enjoy helping people feel better
  • Are interested in medicine or science
  • Would enjoy working in a laboratory

Several high schools have health-based Career Tech programs.

Hughes STEM High School / Shroder High School

Medical Bioscience

This program pulls together a variety of disciplines — including biology, chemistry and physics — to teach students about the world of agriculture, plant and animal science, and the complex field of food science. Students will also benefit from leadership development, personal growth and career exploration.

Riverview East Academy (K-12)

Students in the Allied Health and Nursing Pathway gain a wide range of skills through courses like Nutrition and Wellness and Medical Terminology. Additionally, students participate in numerous clinical laboratory experiences. Students will explore major medical occupations through real-world experiences. Students will be exposed to numerous certification and credentialing programs, including phlebotomy.

Internships in health-related fields are also available.

Woodward Career Technical High School

Students in the Allied Health and Nursing Pathway gain a wide range of skills through courses like Nutrition and Wellness and Medical Terminology.
