Assuming the role of Internal Audit Supervisor at Cincinnati Public Schools in October 2021, Mrs. Mueller brings extensive expertise cultivated through her background at both Ernst & Young and GE Aviation. Proficient in regulatory compliance audits, US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley testing, and IT risk, her commitment to organizational objectives is evident through her active participation in developing an IT audit framework. Her genuine commitment to the students at CPS emphasizes the vital role of internal audit in safeguarding their well-being and contributing to their educational success.

Internal Audit Specialist: Brennan Zastawny
Mr. Zastawny joined Cincinnati Public Schools in March 2026 as an Internal Audit Specialist, bringing a unique perspective shaped by his experience at Protiviti, where he specialized in securitization audits. In his role at CPS, he evaluates internal controls, assesses risk, and identifies opportunities to strengthen processes and enhance compliance across the district. He is committed to continuous learning and contributing to the mission of CPS through thoughtful and effective internal audit practices.

Internal Audit Intern: Maxwell Lawson

Internal Audit Intern: Maxwell Lawson
Mr. Lawson is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati who joined the team as an Internal Audit Intern in February 2026. He is currently pursuing both his CPA and MBA, and will begin his career in public accounting with PwC this fall. Mr. Lawson brings experience in internal audit from Atricure, along with external audit experience at leading firms including KPMG and PwC. He is also a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of the Spencer Center, a CPS school, and the first cohort of Marian Spencer Scholars. As a CPS alumni, Mr. Lawson wants to contribute to the district not only from an accounting standpoint, but also a student one.
