Mary Wineberg
Mary Wineberg
Mary Wineberg joins the Board of Education for Cincinnati Public Schools after being a teacher for the district for 11 years. It is here while teaching 2nd grade that she saw the excitement of students as they accomplished their academic dreams. Mary has always known the importance of education and has always wanted to play an instrumental part.
Additionally, she brings her drive and determination from her experiences as a professional track athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist to the CPS Board of Education. As a proud CPS alum, parent and former teacher she brings both perspective and passion. Mary enjoys serving and being able to help others to have a world-class education.
Born in Brooklyn, New York and later moving to Cincinnati at the age of 5. Mary who was adopted, was given a new life to soar to great heights. She enjoyed receiving her education while attending first CPS school, Losantville Elementary and later graduating from Walnut Hills High School. She furthered her studies and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Then later earned her Master Degree in Education from Mount Saint Joseph University.
In addition to her service on the Board of Education and as the Health and Safety Committee Chairperson, she is the board's liaison with the Ohio High School Athletic Association, and an active community member of two women's organizations promoting civil service, youth engagement and education. She looks forward to working to give the students of CPS a world-class education and ensuring transparency, clear communication and an equitable education for all.
