Phlebotomy Students Get Practice Ahead of National Exam
WHAT: As the saying goes, “Practices makes perfect.” And that’s exactly what 25 high school seniors enrolled in the phlebotomy program will be getting; lots of practice to perfect their blood drawing skills over a two-day period in an event called Sticks 4 Kicks.
While this event is a great opportunity to practice, practice, practice, each student is required to complete 36 successful blood draws prior to taking the Certified National Phlebotomy Exam in April. Upon passing the test, students can obtain jobs as a phlebotomist technician and work in hospitals or nursing homes.
Blood tests will not be sent to a lab for any evaluation, said Candace Jones, the instructor of the program.
WHEN: February 11, February 12 — 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Woodward Career Technical, Media Center —7005 Reading Rd.
WHO: Candace Jones, instructor, is available for interviews at the event.
