Cincinnati (OH) – Roberts Paideia Academy will receive the 2017 Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Roberts Academy was the only school within the Cincinnati Public School District to earn this distinction.
Now in its third year, the Momentum Award program is ODE’s way of recognizing schools that have received A’s on each Value-Added measure included on Ohio’s school and district report cards.
“Your school report card for the 2016-2017 school year shows your pupils enjoyed greater than expected growth in reading and mathematics,” Ohio State Board of Education President Tess Elshoff said in a letter announcing the award. “Your accomplishment makes you part of an elite group of schools that are ensuring the academic growth of students from every background and ability level.”
“We’re honored to receive this award, as it is a true indication of the hard work of our teachers, staff and our students to achieve high performance standards,” said Alpacino B. Beauchamp, Principal of Roberts Academy.
Roberts Academy is a Community Learning Center located in the heart of Cincinnati's Price Hill neighborhood, serving approximately 755 Pre-K through 8th-grade students and families.
The school population provides a snapshot of the diversity in the community, with students and their families coming from 12 different countries, including Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Ivory Coast, and Somalia, just to name a few. The rich culture of our community is embraced and celebrated every day as we educate and enrich our students, their families and the surrounding community.
