Riverview East Students to Report to Jacobs Center Tuesday

February 19, 2018

Students of Riverview East Academy, a K-12 Cincinnati Public School, will attend class at Jacobs Center on Tuesday due to the Ohio River flood status. Students, parents and staff were notified on Monday, Feb. 19. Students will attend class at the regular time at the Jacobs Center, 5425 Winton Ridge Lane, Cincinnati.

Buses will pick up neighborhood children at 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. beside the baseball field across from Riverview East Academy. If the flood waters get to the ball field area, the alternate pick-up spot is the corner of Stanley and Eastern Bus Stop.

Cincinnati Public Schools will make a determination on Tuesday if students will return to their regular classrooms at Riverview on Wednesday. Before the students and staff are permitted to re-enter Riverview East Academy, a thorough inspection will occur, as well as any clean up as required.

Text of Riverview East Academy message sent to parents Friday:

Right now predictions are showing that we may not be at Riverview on Tuesday. The prediction puts us past flood stage where the parking lot will be under water. As a result, we may be going to the Jacob’s Center.

Here is some important information to note: It may be as late as 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday before we know for sure, so we will be sending out a robo call by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday to let you know what to expect. School will operate as normal. If we are relocated to Jacobs Center, school times and activities will operate the same as they do on our home campus. There will be no disruption to our academic or extracurricular programs. Jacobs Center is a safe building that continues to be utilized by our district. So, you should have no concerns. The building is located at 5425 Winton Ridge Lane (45232). There will be extra district security to monitor our students.

Transportation will be provided if we need to move.

For students who walk to school, we will secure buses that will pick them up across the street from Riverview East 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Our bus riding students will be picked up at their normal bus stop at the normal time, and they will be transported to Jacobs Center. At the end of the day, bus riders will be dropped off at their normal bus stop. Students who normally walk to school will be driven by bus back to the pickup location across from Riverview East. This relocation is very temporary.

If we are required to relocate due to flooding on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 we will keep everyone informed about a return date through robocalls and letters home. Right now there is no projection into next week. Of course, we will be monitoring water levels to see if we can get back to our home location sooner. Again, please listen for a robo call early Tuesday morning so that you will know what our plans are. Thank you for you cooperation and continued support.
