Bus Safety
Student behavior that distracts bus drivers is a hazard to the vehicle's safe operation, and jeopardizes the safety and welfare of all passengers. Misbehavior while on a yellow school bus or a Metro bus can result in disciplinary action for the student or the suspension of transportation service for the student. Read more about our requirements for student behavior on buses.

Discipline
Our positive school culture plan addresses our schoolwide expectations and consequences in the event a poor choice is made. Our consequences are progressive. We have time out partners, phone calls home, detentions, Alternative Learning Center, Emergency Removal (1-3 days) and, for level 2 and 3 consequences, we use the A2S/A2E program. For more information about Mt. Airy's discipline policies. Please read the Mt. Airy School PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) Handbook 2019-2020.
Review CPS' Code of Conduct for disciplinary procedures.

Dress Code
Students who attend Mt. Airy are required to dress in their school uniform every day. Learn more about our school uniform policy.

Electronic Devices
Board policy states that students are not permitted to bring cell phones or any electronic devices to Mt. Airy. This includes, but not limited to: cameras, iPods, mp3 players or video game systems. If your child must have a phone we ask that they have the teacher hold it until dismissal. The device should be powered off. If you need to reach your child, please leave a message in the main office and we will relay the information. If the devices are seen, they will be confiscated and must remain in the school office until a parent/guardian comes to retrieve them from an administrator or office staff. Items will not be returned to a student or sibling. Mt. Airy will not be held responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged cell phones or electronic devices of any kind.

Visiting During School Hours
We welcome visits from parents and guardians. However, to protect student safety, all visitors must sign in at the main office and wear a visitor's badge. Parents/guardians who would like a conference with their child's teacher must schedule an appointment with the teacher.
