Degrees and Certifications:

Principal Yolanda Jackson

Greetings Dater Families and Community,

My name is Yolanda Jackson and it is with great pleasure that I write this letter as your incoming interim Principal at Dater Montessori for the 2021-2022 school year. My experiences as your assistant principal have provided me with a unique skill set to lead effectively because I understand and respect the culture here at Dater. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as your instructional leader! Dater Montessori is a special place located in a caring community, attended by remarkable students who receive their immaculate education from the most talented staff I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

This year will be my 10th year as an educator; prior to that, I was enlisted in the United States Navy for 13 years. While in the Navy, I served as a Navy instructor and a Logistics Specialist. I obtained both my bachelor and masters degrees while enlisted. In 2012, I returned to my hometown of Cincinnati to become a teacher. I taught first grade for two years at a charter school. I joined CPS in 2014 as a Kindergarten teacher, four years at Roberts Academy and one year at South Avondale, and finally my journey led me here.

My number one priority this year is to work closely with my staff, parents, the community and all stakeholders to move forward in a productive manner after the tough year we experienced. My educational philosophy is simple — all students, no matter what, are entitled to a quality education and we must keep in mind that this may look different depending on the student. We are dedicated to meeting students where they are and growing them. As we all know, it takes a village and I am excited to be a part of this one.

I hold many titles; I’m a wife, a mother, daughter, big sister, friend and now a breast cancer survivor! In addition to those things, I am also an educator who is honored to also hold the
title of Principal. It has been a lifelong goal and I am committed to serving this community. It is truly a privilege. I look forward to working with you and I understand communication is key, so please feel free to reach out to me! Have a wonderful restful summer and I’ll see you this fall!

Go Gators!

Very Respectfully,
Yolanda Jackson
