Facilities At-A-Glance

  • Facilities Maintenance is responsible for maintenance and repairs of all CPS buildings and grounds. There are currently 57 highly skilled craftsmen including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, glaziers, sheet metal workers, HVAC technicians, garage mechanic, security technicians, and maintenance crew (responsible for paving, plaster, masonry, ceramic tile, hauling, snow removal, and grounds keeping). Facilities Maintenance work is requested through the web based Work Order System (see Work Order System section on this web page for more information). Facilities Maintenance is meeting our commitment to enhance maintenance at all buildings with contracts for window cleaning, elevator maintenance, HVAC controls commissioning, synthetic turf grooming, servicing vehicles and painting.

    Building Operations consists of administrative supervisors who oversee 71 site based building engineers, who are responsible for day-to-day maintenance of their buildings. In addition, Building Operations has 224 site based custodians, who are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the buildings.

    Planning and Construction offers planning, design services and construction administration to schools for small construction projects; often completed with in-house craftsmen. Planning and Construction is also responsible for managing capital improvement projects ranging in size from $500,000 to $56,200,000; with involvement from conceptual planning to occupancy. To request a small construction project for your school or department, please fill out the Project Request Form and email it to the Facilities Director, TBD.
