Volunteer for CPS

VolunteerCall for Parent and Partner Support!

We are in need of Parent/Caregiver or Partner Volunteers! Help us ensure that students continue to learn in a safe, healthy and fun environment!

Schools may need people to help out in classrooms, lunchrooms and on the playground, as well as volunteers to help in the office.

Please contact your school’s office for more information on what they need!

Requirements

CPS Parents/Caregivers or Partners who have:

  • Current Local or FBI/BCI Background
    • CPS will assist with obtaining local background check
  • CPS Volunteer Badge
    • CPS will provide badge

Steps to become a Volunteer

  1. Complete Parent Volunteer Registration Form
  2. Complete/Submit Background Check
  3. School completes/submits Badge Authorization Form
  4. Volunteer makes appointment to get a CPS Badge
    1. CPS Badge Appointment Scheduling
  5. School contacts volunteer to coordinate day(s) of support

How to Submit/Obtain Local Background Check

If CURRENT CPS volunteer or if you have had a Local or FBI/BCI Background Check within the past 6 months:

  • Bring your Local or FBI/BCI Background Check to your Badge Appointment at:
    • Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center Security Office (2651 Burnet Ave, 45219 Hours: M-Th 8 a.m.– Noon and  1 – 3 p.m.)

If NEW CPS volunteer or if you need a local background check:

  • Complete a Local Background Check by visiting:
    • Hamilton County Justice Center, (1000 Sycamore Street, Room 100, 45202; Ph. (513) 946-6600; Hours: M-F 8 a.m.– 3 p.m.)
    • Please make sure to bring a valid Driver’s License/State Issued ID with you to obtain your background check
    • Note: There is a fee
  • Bring your Local Background Check to your Badge Appointment at:
    •   Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center Security Office (2651 Burnet Ave, 45219; Hours: M-Th 8 a.m.– Noon and 1–3 p.m.)
    • CPS will cover the cost of the local background check

How to Obtain CPS Volunteer Badge

  • To schedule an appointment, go to:
  •  To receive your CPS Badge:
    • Visit Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center, 2651 Burnet Ave, 45219
      • Please bring with you your:
        • Current Local or FBI/BCI Background AND
        • State Issued ID/Driver's License
  • The Security Office is located on the second floor at the Education Center through the Employee Care Center (Enter the middle doors and check in at the front desk);  Security Office Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–Noon and 1-3 p.m.
