Cincinnati Public Schools is committed to creating family friendly partnership schools. A home/school partnership and greater involvement of families in their children's education generally result in higher achievement scores, improved student behavior and reduced absenteeism. All CPS families are encouraged to take an active role in their children's education.
Partnerships among families, schools and communities that are child-centered and family-strengthening will guide and motivate students to be productive citizens in a global society.
In July 2007, with the passage of Ohio Senate Bill 311, CPS and the Ohio Board of Education adopted recommendations for the development of parental and community-involvement policies.
CPS formed a Family & Civic Engagement Team — comprised of community members, principals, teachers, Board of Education members and Central Office administrators — to focus the district on including people from outside the schoolhouse.
The Family & Civic Engagement Team meets monthly.
