Woodward Students Develop Entrepreneurial Skills at New Café

Woodward Career Technical High School students are brewing big entrepreneurial dreams – opening the Blue Coffee Café, a student-run café that offers a unique space for learning, creativity and hands-on business experience.

Operated by Woodward’s Entrepreneurship students, the café allows students to manage all aspects of a small business, from customer service to product sales. The café serves a variety of coffee, tea, frappes and snacks. Students also offer handmade socks and bracelets, along with a selection of Woodward spirit wear.

“I think that the Blue Coffee Café has brought all of the students together in a union and uplifted the community inside of Woodward. I really love the Blue Coffee Café. It's given me experience in the ‘stress department’ and learning to work through problems,” said 11th grade student Sha’Myarae Boyd-Reed.

Open daily during school hours, the café has quickly become a welcoming spot for the school community. The project represents a proud accomplishment for the students who brought it to life, giving them practical experience in business and entrepreneurship.

“I am beyond excited about our new Entrepreneurship Program and the grand opening of Blue Coffee Café. Watching our students dream big, build a business, earn work-based learning hours and actually run their own store is amazing,” counselor Brianca Gay said. “This isn’t just coffee; it’s confidence, creativity and real-world experience brewing right here at Woodward. I’m so proud of them.”
