Walnut Hills High School Soars to No. 1 in Ohio Again

Excellence isn't a one-time achievement at Walnut Hills High School. It's a tradition.

For another year, Walnut Hills High School has earned the title of Ohio's top-ranked public high school, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report. Even more impressive, Walnut climbed to No. 76 nationally, rising 15 spots from last year's No. 91 ranking and placing the school among the nation's very best. The rankings evaluated more than 27,000 public high schools across the country, and ranked nearly 18,000 schools. 

The annual rankings measure several indicators of student success, including outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores on an array of college-level exams and high graduation rates.

At Walnut Hills, those measures tell a powerful story.

The report highlighted the school's 94% Advanced Placement participation rate, giving students access to college-level learning while they're still in high school. That access, combined with Walnut's rigorous academic program, gives students opportunities to build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to leave high school prepared to pursue a future of their own design.

And the benefits extend beyond the classroom. When Cincinnati students have access to exceptional public education, the entire community benefits.
