Right-Sized and Ready: Pleasant Ridge Montessori Debuts New Facilities
Pleasant Ridge Montessori School is celebrating significant milestones with the unveiling of a new playground, an amphitheater and newly renovated classroom spaces. These updates represent a pivotal moment in the school’s efforts to better accommodate its growing student body.
Pleasant Ridge Montessori (PRM), along with Hyde Park School and Walnut Hills High School, underwent renovation and expansion projects, funded through ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief).
Staff, families and students cut the ribbon at PRM to celebrate the completion of 11 new classrooms, expanded cafeteria and music room.
Previously, the school faced challenges with overflowing classrooms, which impacted the students and staff. CPS’ Facilities team worked diligently with PRM staff to see the work to completion.
The renovation process also included removing outdated furniture and redesigning the space to align with Montessori principles. The new classroom features bright, engaging learning materials and flexible areas designed to foster exploration and creativity among students.
“We are very excited about this newly renovated space. Our teachers are comfortable, and our students are happy—we couldn’t ask for more,” Principal Simpson said. “Now we can truly address the needs of our community. As a school leader, I feel accomplished to see this through.”
The expanded space enables Pleasant Ridge Montessori to better accommodate its students and ensure that more families can benefit from the school’s unique educational approach. The official reopening was celebrated with a small event attended by students, parents and staff, all of whom expressed their enthusiasm for the positive changes.
