New Board of Education Takes Oath, Elects Leadership Positions

New Board of Education Takes Oath, Elects Leadership Positions

The Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education welcomed a new member and welcomed back two members after their successful November elections. During Monday’s meeting, the Board voted on 2026 cabinet positions and elected its president, vice president and committee members.

New member Kari Armbruster, along with re-elected board members, Brandon Craig and Dr. Kareem Moncree-Moffett, were administered the oath of office by CPS District Treasurer Michael Gustin.

The Board elected Brandon Craig as president and Dr. Kareem Moncree-Moffett as vice president.

“I’m honored to serve as president of the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education,” Craig said. “This Board is committed to ethical leadership, equity and responsible stewardship of public resources. Our work will stay focused on student outcomes and decisions that strengthen trust with families and taxpayers.”

Craig also commended Moncree-Moffett for her service as Board president over the past year as she steps into her new role as vice president.

“I’m proud to serve as vice president of the Board,” Moncree-Moffett said. “Our responsibility is to lead transparently, engage our community and ensure every student and family has a voice in the work of CPS.”

Superintendent Shauna Murphy is ready to work with the new Board leadership.

“Strong, aligned leadership matters for students,” said Superintendent Shauna Murphy. “I look forward to working closely with President Craig, Vice President Moncree-Moffett and the full Board as we continue advancing our District and delivering on our promise to be truly here for kids.”

The changes in Board Leadership took effect immediately.
