Evanston Academy Hits the Right Note with Save the Music Foundation Grant
Evanston Academy’s music program is making serious sound waves. The school was awarded the esteemed Save the Music Foundation Core Band Grant, providing Evanston with 36 musical instruments, as well as essential equipment and materials, to enhance its music class.
Thomas Frank, the band director for several CPS schools, says the grant is a gamechanger for the program.
“We are all super excited and proud,” Frank said. “This plays a significant role in our attendance, as students learn instrument care and take pride in their band.”
The Core Grant Program, a vital part of the Save the Music Foundation’s mission, is dedicated to revitalizing instrumental music education in public elementary and middle schools. The program focuses on equity, ensuring that every eligible school within the District has the opportunity to enhance its music offerings.
Evanston Academy uses music education to help foster students’ creativity, collaboration and community. The school is working to rebuild its music program and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
