CPS Honors Multilingual Learners and Community Collaboration

CPS Honors Multilingual Learners and Community Collaboration

Supporting multilingual learners starts with strong partnerships. CPS’ Office of Second Language Acquisition hosted the MLL Community Partners Luncheon to celebrate the collaborative efforts that support multilingual learners and their families. The event brought together more than 50 representatives from nearly 20 community organizations dedicated to meeting the unique needs of multilingual students across the district.

Community partners gathered alongside members of the Board of Education, District leadership, principals, English Learner Family Coordinators and bilingual school social workers to connect, share insights and strengthen relationships. The luncheon highlighted the vital role these partnerships play in providing essential services and fostering student success.

“The MLL Community Partners Luncheon provided an opportunity for CPS to express its deepest gratitude to the caring organizations behind critical support services for MLL families enrolled in our district,” said Adam Cooper, CPS manager of MLL services. “They hold a unique skill set for a population that we are proud to serve, and it is important that we continue to strengthen our partnerships and seek new opportunities to support our students.”

Superintendent Shauna Murphy and several special guests shared messages during the luncheon, including Withrow Marian Spencer Scholarship recipient Fevita Reynoso Aguilar, whose powerful message highlighted the impact of community support on student achievement.

In addition to celebrating accomplishments, the luncheon provided an opportunity to reflect on past successes and identify emerging challenges as CPS and its partners renewed their commitment to serving multilingual students and families in 2026.
