2024-25 Spring Testing Schedule

2024-25 Spring Testing Schedule

CPS recognizes that its students are not defined by a test or assessment; however, school districts are required to conduct specific tests during periodic time frames throughout a school year. To better understand the spring testing schedule, CPS is providing students and families with a list of the state required assessments, type and particular grade below. CPS conducts a wide range of assessments and exams, including gifted screening, state exams, end of course (EOC) exams, admissions-based entrance exams and college preparatory tests.

These state assessments tell us how well our students are growing in the knowledge and skills outlined in Ohio’s Learning Standards, as well as how our schools are performing compared to others throughout Ohio.

The Grade 3 English Language Arts assessment is also used for the state’s Third Grade Reading Guarantee, which is a program to identify students from kindergarten through grade 3 who are behind in reading. High School End-of-Course exams may also be used to meet two of the three components required for graduation. This year testing will take place between March 31 and May 9, 2025.

Beginning in April, students will take the following state assessments:

  • Grades 3, 4, 6, 7 - English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics
  • Grades 5, 8 - English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science
  • Grade 9-12 - Students will test based upon course enrollment and graduation requirements. The End-of-Course tests are English Language Arts II, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, American History, and American Government.
