Cincinnati Public Schools is proud to announce 19 outstanding students from Walnut Hills High School, Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students and Clark Montessori High School earned the distinction of National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists in the prestigious 70th annual scholarship program.
More than 16,000 students across the country were selected for the honor, representing less than one percent of the nation’s high school seniors.
The students earned the opportunity to compete for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, totaling nearly $26 million, which will be awarded next spring. Finalists are evaluated based on a variety of factors, including their academic records, the school’s curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT scores, letters of recommendation, involvement in student activities and leadership roles, as well as a personal essay.
