Peer Leadership Collaboratives were implemented in all Cincinnati Public Schools’ high schools during the 2016-17 school year.
Peer Leaderships Collaboratives are part of CPS' My Tomorrow initiative, a new vision for education in which all CPS students are prepared for the success beyond graduation. My Tomorrow, launched in 2014-15 in grades 7-8, now is being implemented at more grade levels in every CPS school.
Collaboratives allow students to learn and apply seven leadership competencies developed by students during the 2016-17 Peer Leadership Summits: Inspirational, Creative, Open-minded, Optimistic, Goal-oriented, Confident, Determined.
Each school’s collaborative consists of a student captain and a co-captain, general members and a staff facilitator. Each collaborative launches student-led campaigns to encourage all students to lead others and allow young people to serve as positive change agents in five areas of focus: college readiness, career readiness, philanthropy and service learning, men’s leadership, and women’s leadership.
The Leadership Collaboratives include Girls to Women; M.O.R.E. (Men Organized, Respectful and Educated); and Student Voice.
