Board Kudos — May 2016

Kudos to Wanda Neville, teacher at Oyler School, for earning the Cincinnatus Association-sponsored award — the Cincinnatus Government Cooperation Award — for Program Excellence with the Al Hampton Mentoring Program.

The Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA-GCC) annually honors outstanding individuals for their work in the field of public administration including government, education and the non-profit sector. This year, the Cincinnatus Association sponsored a new award, the Cincinnatus Government Cooperation Award.

Kudos to Dater High School’s 7th-grade mathematics teacher Demetra Jones,
honored May 13, 2016, by the Hamilton County Education Foundation for outstanding teaching.

A lead teacher, Ms. Jones was nominated for the honor by Dater High School Assistant Principal Amy Uecker. This is the 10th year that the foundation has recognized outstanding educators from Hamilton County’s public school districts.

Kudos to Melissa Estell, teacher at Woodford Paideia Academy, named the 2016 Dr. Lawrence C. Hawkins Educator of the Year.

Melissa Estell was recognized May 3 by Western & Southern Financial Group, sponsors of the annual Hawkins Award, with a plaque and a $10,000 personal check for her dedication to creating a love for learning in her students and her commitment to empowering them to achieve. Ms. Estell, a CPS educator for 25 years, was selected from among finalists nominated by CPS employees.   

Congratulations Ms. Estell, and kudos to all the finalists for being recognized for their service to our students.

Kudos to Maria Kobayashi, English Language Learners Curriculum Manager, honored May 13, 2016, by Santa Maria Community Services with the Sister Margarita Brewer Hope Award.

She is honored for her service to the immigrant population of Greater Cincinnati. Ms. Kobayashi has been with CPS for 15 years.

Kudos, Ms. Kobayashi, for what you do for the community.
