A new superintendent is expected to start work by August 1, 2017.
The goal will be to find a successor who can build on the momentum nurtured by Superintendent Mary Ronan during her nine successful years at the helm. Ronan, a 40-year CPS veteran who also served as a teacher and principal, and in several other leadership positions at CPS, was named Superintendent April 16, 2009, after serving as Interim Superintendent since August 2008. She announced on November 17, 2016, that she would retire August 1.
The selection of a superintendent is one of the Board’s most important responsibilities, said Board President Ericka Copeland-Dansby.
“Every member of the Cincinnati Board of Education is committed to finding a superintendent with the right expertise and skill sets to extend the progress of our schools and district, which will strengthen the vitality of our entire region,” Copeland-Dansby said.
