2021-22 Dress Policy

7th and 8th Grade

• Black polo shirt and/or Woodward spirit shirt
• Black or khaki pants
• Black sweaters, black sweatshirts and black hoodies are permitted.
• Woodward hoodies are permitted
• Closed-toe shoes are a must. Students are not permitted to wear flip-flops, slides, sandals or slippers are any point during the school day.
• Headgear (hats, hoods, bonnets, bandanas, etc.) must be taken off when entering the building and remain off until the end of the school day.
• If students are dressed in a way that does not adhere to these guidelines, they will lose out on the opportunity to participate in school incentives.

9th-12th Grade

Dress and appearance allow individuals to express themselves in ways that are unique to their personal taste. While allowing room for self-expression, WCTHS believes that student dress should promote a positive image of our students, school and district. To that end, appropriate clothing must be worn at all times to maintain an appearance that promotes a safe, healthy and professional environment.

The following guidelines have been established at WCTHS:

• Closed-toe shoes are a must. Students are not permitted to wear flip-flops, slides, sandals or slippers at any point during the school day.
• Headgear (hats, hoods, bonnets, bandanas, etc.) must be taken off when entering the building and remain off until the end of the school day.
• Clothing should fully cover students from the shoulders to above the knee.
• Pants are not allowed to be worn below the waist.
• Crop tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps and sleeveless tops are not allowed.
• Shorts, skirts and dresses must be at least knee length/just above the knee, touching fingertips with arms extended.
• Shirts must have a high enough neckline to cover all cleavage and must not expose any part of the belly or back.
• See-through clothing is prohibited.
• Clothing is not permitted to have obscene, offensive or suggestive gestures, words or pictures. This includes any references to alcohol, drugs, tobacco and/or violence.

How will the 9th-12th grade dress policy be enforced?
We will follow a “Three Strikes” policy. Students will be stopped at the front door if they are in violation of the WCTHS Dress Policy. If a student reaches a third strike, they will be required to wear traditional uniform (khaki pants and a blue polo shirt) for one month.

Three Strikes Policy

First Strike

• The student and staff member will make a phone call home together. This will ensure families understand the expectations of the WCTHS Dress policy and will provide an opportunity to support families in need.
• Alternative clothing will be provided by the Groom Room and must be returned by the end of the school day. If we are unable to provide an alternative, a dress-code pass will be issued for the day so students are able to attend their classes.
• Students will be given a hard copy of the WCTHS Dress Policy

Second Strike

• Students will be assigned lunch detail for three days.
• Another phone call home will be made in addition to alternative clothing or a dress-code pass.

Third Strike

• Students must wear khaki pants and a blue polo shirt for one month.
• A phone call home will be made to inform families of the dates their child must wear the traditional uniform clothing.
• If, throughout the day, students choose to violate the dress policy, teachers will fill out a Google Form to report the dress policy violation. This teacher will count as one of the three strikes.
• A Google spreadsheet will be utilized building-wide to track dress policy violations. This spreadsheet will list the student's name and how many strikes they’ve had. If they make it to the third strike, the spreadsheet will have the dates in which students must wear a black polo shirt and khaki pants.

If a student should continue to violate the WCTHS after the third strike, they will be referred to the Opportunity Academy for additional intervention.
