How to Prepare
No matter your grade level, there are activities a student and their family can do to prepare for college.
- Explore our Bearcat Tracker: This colorful guide co-created with University of Cincinnati provides opportunities and preparation activities for students in grades 8-12 to prepare for college at any university.
- Download the UC Mobile App to have Bearcat Tracker on the go:
- UC Mobile is available on Apple and Android platforms. The Bearcat tracker can be found on this app from the main screen.
- Think about your course choices. Competitive colleges will want to see that students took challenging coursework. This can include honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment coursework. Explore what your high school offers or visit the College Credit Plus page for more information on dual enrollment opportunities for Cincinnati Public Schools students.
- Learn about the language of college to feel more informed in college tours.

National HBCU Week
In recognition of National HBCU Week, The CPS Office of Secondary Education hosted a panel discussion to discuss the opportunities of attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
This is the first in the Beyond The Tassel Series inviting alumni, staff and partners to share important information about postsecondary pathways with CPS students.
The panel was moderated by Woodward school counselor, Julie Hamilton (NCCU), and features CPS graduates Aliou Diouf (Dater/Central State), Aaron Harris (Withrow/Kentucky State), Kayla Lennon (Walnut Hills/Howard), and MiKayla Jordan (Clark/Fisk). This was made possible with the partnership of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Sigma Omega Chapter.
