The Arts
School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) — K-12
- (Grades K-3 entry via online magnet lottery; grades 4-12 entry via audition.)

To enter SCPA in the 2023-2024 school year:
- Students entering SCPA from kindergarten through third grade and who live in the CPS district: Parents apply via CPS' online magnet application process; seats are assigned based on random computer-generated numbers assigned to applications and by space available. No auditions required at K-3.
- Students entering SCPA in grades 4-6 who live in the CPS district are required to audition to be considered for admission. Elementary auditions (grades 4-6)
- Audition #1: January 17th-19th, 2023.
- Audition #2: April 11th-13th, 2023 (After a student successfully auditions, applications are submitted at the school; SCPA is not part of CPS' online magnet application process at grades 4-6.)
- Students entering grades 7-12 who live in the CPS district are required to audition to be considered for admission. High school auditions

- Audition #2: April 11th-13th, 2023 (After a student successfully auditions, applications are submitted at the school; SCPA is not part of CPS' online high school application process.)
- Students who live outside the Cincinnati Public School District (Open Enrollment): An out-of-district student interested in applying to SCPA must submit an online application during the Open Enrollment Period, May 1-31. Parents will be notified in June of a child's status. Note: Auditions are required to enter SCPA at grades 4 through 12. If an audition is required, the out-of-district student must successfully audition prior to submitting an online application in May. Audition dates for out-of-district students: Saturday, January 17th-19th, 2023 — grades 4-12; April 11th-13th, 2023 — grades 7-12.

Fundamental Academy
College Hill Fundamental Academy
- After parents are notified that a child is accepted via the online magnet application process, school staff will contact the family and schedule a placement assessment involving parents, the child, the child's teacher and the principal.

Gifted and Exceptional Programs
Students qualify for entrance to CPS' gifted programs in two ways:
- Rank at the Superior Cognitive level on a cognitive abilities test.
- Score at the 95th percentile or higher in two of the following subjects on the Terra Nova or other state-approved standardized achievement test: Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science. One of the two subjects must be Math or Reading.
These are Ohio’s requirements to be identified as gifted and to participate in gifted programs. Qualification for entrance into CPS' gifted academies is based on 2nd-grade scores or higher.
Students qualify for entrance to exceptional programs in two ways:
- Rank at a 123 standard score or greater on the InView Cognitive Ability Test or the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT).
- Score at an 85th percentile or higher in Reading on the Terra Nova standardized achievement test.
