What Does This Mean for Students?
Introduced for the 2017-18 school year for students in grades 3-6, the New Tech Network model is built around hands-on, project- and problem-based activities that help students apply what they’re learning to everyday life. The program was rolled out to all students in grades K-6 for the 2018-19 school year.
The positive culture at Ethel M. Taylor Academy empowers students and the hands-on, multi-year approach gives students structure and support to ensure long-term success. They will gain the know-how to continually adapt their skills and further their knowledge — putting the power to pursue their dreams in their hands.
Ethel M. Taylor Academy students will benefit from:
- Immediate feedback on work through Echo, an online learning management system
- Access to cutting-edge technology and applications to develop and practice real-world technology skills (Microsoft Office, Google, etc.)
- Project-based learning opportunities that help students connect what they learn in the classroom to how it applies in the world and work in teams
- Partnerships with area businesses and organizations, and mentoring opportunities with students at Aiken New Tech High
