James N. Gamble Montessori High School is one of two Montessori high schools in the Cincinnati Public Schools District that provides an academically rigorous and rich Montessori curriculum for emerging
students. Faculty and staff are committed to developing students into thoughtful, intelligent, and inclusive spirits who contribute to the stewardship of our community and planet. Using Montessorian principles, we
create an enriching, diverse, and nurturing environment that helps students achieve their potential. We have high expectations of all our students, and we teach them to have high expectations of themselves. Through a rigorous college preparatory program that marries academic concepts with real-world experiences, students develop life-long learning skills while appreciating their role in our society. We believe that inside every child is a natural ability to learn, and at Gamble, we nurture that ability so that students develop the
confidence needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.VISION

Qualities Nurtured
Every Gamble student signs a school contract each year in which he/she promises to work to build a community within the school. The contract specifically requires that the student strive to make the school a special learning environment by dealing with others through the principle of human-heartedness. Students make a commitment to value and respect each other as individuals, to study, and to participate in unique learning opportunities and community service.
-
Education
Students learn to manage long-term projects, including an intensive year-long research project during their senior year. Students are coached in leadership skills such as group development, decision-making models, and conflict resolution. Students and teachers engage in an alternative assessment of the student’s knowledge, such as self-evaluation of work based on clearly defined objectives and presentations. Gamble’s environment clearly acknowledges diversity and the adolescent need for greater autonomy. In this setting, students succeed in learning and decision-making situations that encourage independence.
Gamble’s academic program challenges students to work responsibly and to gain a deeper appreciation for their
education and service to the community. -
