Billboard Campaign Promotes Pride in City Schools

This "I Am Opening Doors" billboard can be seen on Hopple Street, just east of Colerain Avenue.

Cincinnati Public Schools starts the 2008-09 school year with a new visibility for its "I am CPS" campaign.

Featuring the faces of CPS' students, 16 billboards went up in late August in the neighborhoods surrounding district schools. The billboard campaign prominently displays artwork of students "reaching higher," "breaking the mold," "raising the bar," "opening doors" and "learning what counts," among others phrases that highlight the achievement, confidence and success of our motivated students.

The billboards will be in place through September 2008. You can see them all by consulting this list of locations.

Cincinnati's educational environment has become increasingly competitive, which is pushing CPS to be more strategic in its efforts to attract and retain students. The billboard campaign aims to create a community sense of pride and ownership in Cincinnati Public Schools.

The fates of the community of Cincinnati and its public schools are linked. One cannot thrive without the other. The billboard campaign reinforces the fact that, in Cincinnati, we all are Cincinnati Public Schools and, by working together, we can support quality teaching and learning for Cincinnati's young people.

The "I am Cincinnati Public Schools" campaign was launched in August 2007. It was initially featured on the district's 2007-08 Parent Calendar and on red-and-white yard signs placed at our schools and around the community.
