Student Services
Special Education services are administered by the Department of Student Services

The Cincinnati Public Schools’ Autism Resource Center is located at Rockdale Academy in Avondale. The center provides in-service opportunities for school staffs and families, as well as a library of resources and materials. The Autism Support Team is based at the center.  

Autism Support Team

To better meet the needs of students identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, the Cincinnati Public Schools’ Department of Student Services created the Autism Support Team. This team provides instructional, behavioral, sensory, and communication consultation services for school staff and parents of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Consultation services include:

• Developing and modifying Behavior Support Plans

• Providing environmental and technical supports

• Modeling of instructional techniques

• Facilitating communication among schools, families, and support agencies

• Building awareness through presentations to school faculty and support staff

Through on-going workshops and training activities, families will become aware of services offered by the Cincinnati Public Schools and its community partners. 

The Autism Resource Center was developed through a grant from the Ohio Department of Education entitled “Successful Models and Demonstration Projects in Autism Spectrum Disorders” awarded to Cincinnati Public Schools Student Services Department.
