Adult Education
Adult Basic and Literacy Education
The ABLE Programs offer a wide range of
educational services in numerous locations citywide.
Services include the
following:
- Prepare for the GED Test
- Obtain the reading, writing, and math
skills needed to get or keep a job
- Upgrade academic skills for technical
training/college
- Learn to help children with their
school homework
- Develop skills to become wiser
consumers and better citizens
- Learn English for Speakers of Other
Languages or study to become a U.S. citizen
- Learn basic computer skills
Financial Aid
Students pay nothing for instruction. Students who pass the Official
Practice GED are eligible for a $55 fee waiver that will enable them to
take the Official GED at no charge.
Certification
Upon passing the Official GED Test, students will receive a General
Educational Development - Ohio High School Equivalency Diploma from the Ohio Department of Education.
Program
Prerequisites
Adults 18 years of age or older can enroll. Sixteen or seventeen year olds
must be officially withdrawn from high school and be employed, authorized by an Age and School Certificate (work permit).
Minimum
Qualifying Test Scores
There are no minimum qualifying test scores for participation.
