Creating a district that is more supportive of the needs of families and the community is a key goal of Cincinnati Public Schools.
Following are several of the district's parent-engagement initiatives and activities:
Parents for Public Schools of Greater Cincinnati (PPSGC), one of CPS' partners, has created a Parent Leadership Institute to train parents in ways to impact student achievement.
Working with Mayerson Academy, which coordinates professional development for the district, PPSGC customized a parent leadership development program for CPS' parents based on an award-winning model created by the Pritchard Committee of Lexington, Kentucky.
This program helps to identify and develop parent leaders who can then engage other parents to ensure that schools provide a quality public education for all children.
Cincinnati Public Schools is committed to creating a family-friendly environment and improving customer service at every level from the signs that greet you in entrance hallways to voice and E-mail messages.
This exciting parent communication tool allows parents to view their child's assignments and grades, as well as attendance and discipline records, in a secure environment via the Internet. A computer has been provided at each school to allow parents access to PowerSchool.
Parent Report keeps parents informed about educational programs and district initiatives.
The district sends out timely news and information via email. If you would like to be added to the email distribution list, please email Sheila Hess at hessshe@cps-k12.org.
