Cincinnati Public Schools is the first school district in the nation to provide opportunities for its students, ages 6 to 12, to experience Clever Crazes for Kids (CCK), a national wellness initiative that combines animated games, valuable information and trivia to motivate students to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles. Accessible via the Web site, www.clevercrazes.com, the program is designed to be a safe and fun place for young people to learn more about healthy living.

CCK is all about "edu-tainment," and uses interactive computer games that model behaviors essential to healthy physical, mental and emotional development. The games, led by self-selected "avatars," or animated characters, enable students to learn, play and compete in four themed environments: Nutrition, Physical Activity, Self-Esteem and Anti-Bullying, and Green Living.

At the heart of the program is a school competition that awards bi-monthly cash prizes of as much as $5,000 to schools with the highest percentage of participating students, as well as those with the highest-scoring students in CCK's contests. Prizes will be awarded to schools on behalf of participating students. No prizes will be awarded to individuals.

CCK was developed, independently, by the leadership that launched Speaking of Women's Health, a nationally renowned program that educates women to make informed decisions about health, well-being and personal safety for themselves and their families. Designed with similar principles, CCK focuses on helping young children improve their lives.

Students must have parental permission to participate in CCK.
