Metro

Secondary school students typically travel to school on Metro buses, which are county-owned public transportation. Metro service is provided on regularly scheduled routes, as well as Extra Metro routes which are dedicated to serving only schoolchildren.

Students riding the Metro Extra and regular routes may catch the bus at any designated Metro bus stop. Copies of the Extra service routes are available to students at the schools and on the district web site. Regular bus-service information may be obtained by contacting Metro.

Metro service for Cincinnati Public Schools and the non-public and charter schools will be available on the first day of school. On the first day, students will need to pay the full fare of $1.50 in the morning. If their student enrollment data is correct, they will receive their new passes at schools in time to use for the return trip home. Passes can be picked up and signed for only at the student's school by the student. These passes are to be used to and from school only.

If the student forgets his/her pass or has used the two (2) rides per day allowed, payment of a regular bus fare will be required upon boarding. Students in grades 9 through 12 are required to pay a fare drop of 25 cents per ride, along with using their bus passes to and from school.

Some students that ride the Metro bus may have to transfer buses. Elementary students will swipe their passes through the fare box on the second bus. Students in grades nine through twelve must swipe their passes and purchase a transfer for 25 cents when boarding their first bus.
