The Cincinnati Board of Education approved Superintendent Rosa Blackwell's recommendations on February 26, 2007, to set the timetable for closing several buildings.
The buildings were removed from the Facilities Master Plan on November 27, 2006, when the Board voted to revise the plan to allow construction of 51 schools for a total of 32,315 students. The original Facilities Master Plan, adopted in May 2002, was developed for 42,165 students in 66 schools. Ongoing reviews of the plan determined the district's enrollment was dropping faster than predicted, so changes to downsize the plan were made.
The Board's goal is to build enough quality classrooms to serve all CPS students without creating costly extra space.
