October 22, 2007

Board members present: President Eileen Reed, Vice President Melanie Bates, Susan Cranley, John Gilligan, Catherine Ingram, Florence Newell and Rick Williams.
Superintendent Rosa Blackwell and Treasurer Jonathan Boyd attended.

The Board's meeting began at 7:02 p.m. in the Education Center, the district's headquarters in Corryville.

Students and families from Sands Montessori School led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance, with Principal Rita Swegman.

Presentations

Dr. Jack Lewis reported to the Board on his evaluation of CPS' use of Instructional Support Teams to deliver professional development directly to the classrooms. For more information, view the PowerPoint presentation.
Assistant Treasurer Jennifer Wagner reported to the Board that preliminary enrollment projections from recent student counts exceed state projections, indicating that the district's steep enrollment declines over recent years have begun to flatten. For more information, read the news release.

Board Action

APPROVED changing the name of Fairview German Language School to Fairview-Clifton German Language School when they move into their new building.

APPROVED the draft five-year forecast prepared by Treasurer Boyd.

APPROVED the superintendent's recommendations, including

Moving Carmen Hull to principal at North Avondale Montessori School, from interim principal at North Avondale.
Moving Sean McCauley to interim principal at College Hill Fundamental Academy, from assistant principal at College Hill.
Moving Adonica Jones-Parks to interim principal at George W. Hays School, from assistant principal at Woodward Career Technical High School.
Moving Henri Bradshaw to interim assistant principal at Woodward Career Technical High School from principal at Hays School.

ACCEPTED the report of the Board's Committee of the Whole meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, which included a status report on work stemming from the McKinsey Report.

ACCEPTED the report of the Board's Facilities Committee meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007.

ACCEPTED the report of the Board's Finance Committee meeting on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007.

ACCEPTED the report of the Board's Partnership/Public Engagement Committee meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007.

APPROVED the treasurer's report.

The meeting adjourned at 8:46 p.m.

The Board's next regular meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2007, at district headquarters, 2651 Burnet Avenue, in Corryville.
