Board members present: President Eileen Reed, Vice President Melanie Bates, Susan Cranley, John Gilligan, Catherine Ingram, Florence Newell and Rick Williams.
Superintendent Rosa Blackwell and Treasurer Jonathan Boyd attended.

The Board's meeting began at 7 p.m. in the Education Center, the district's headquarters in Corryville.

Board Action

APPROVED a resolution declaring the district's need for a new operating levy. This new five-year emergency tax levy would be presented to voters in the election of Nov. 6, 2007, and would generate an additional $65.3 million a year.

APPROVED the superintendent's recommendations including

APPROVED a resolution awarding contracts for six bid packages related to the renovation of Roselawn Condon School.

APPROVED a resolution awarding contracts for bid packages related to the construction of new schools — Bond Hill, Fairview, Kilgour, Mt. Airy and South Avondale.

APPROVED a resolution authorizing the start of bidding for five bid packages related to the construction of the new John P. Parker School.

APPROVED a resolution awarding contracts for bid packages related to the construction of the new School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA).

APPROVED a resolution completing the annual performance evaluation of Superintendent Blackwell as of July 31, 2007.

APPROVED Board Policies 1221, a-d, (LSDMC's), Section 2000 (Program Policies) and Section 8000 (Operations Policies), and rescinded the policies they replace.

ACCEPTED the reports of the Board's Policy Committee meeting on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, and the meeting on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.

ACCEPTED the report of the Board's Committee of the Whole committee meeting on Wednesday, August 8, 2007.

APPROVED the treasurer's report.

The meeting adjourned at 9:36 p.m.

The Board's next regular meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, at district headquarters, 2651 Burnet Avenue, in Corryville.
